Dear Friends,

This message is special for several reasons. First, this season is a-glow with dresses, jackets, pants and shorts, with details and shapes you're going to love. Second, we are starting our celebration of 75 years of individual style for women of taste. Yes, Frances Heffernan is 75 this year! How does she do it? By staying young and a bit ahead of the curve to help you create the look you can own (and change every day). Third, we are re-introducing a gift card for you - FRANNIE FRANCS. Use it in Frannie and redeem it in Frannie; $1000 in purchases will earn you a Frannie Francs voucher worth $100 on your next Frannie purchase. Print out a copy of the Frannie Francs card and bring it into the store for your wallet-sized card.

Finally, I want to personally thank you for a year that ended very well for us. It's you who keep us inspired. And without you we certainly wouldn't have made it this far. Here's to the next 75 years (ugh! Did I really say that???)

Warmly,

Frances Heffernan Throws a Party
(in subzero weather)

So many smart women of style stopped in to take a look at four new lines of apparel in the post-Super Bowl week. Exclusively offered on the North Shore, they found evening wear from Shawn Ray Fons and Jason Wu. And collections from ChrisHan and Arthur Mendonça.

Spring 2007 Must Haves
This spring will be a season to get rid of the clutter and relax! Clothes are getting simpler, less complicated. The fashion trends this season are all about key items and versatile new pieces to dress up your wardrobe. Don't try to create a whole look...just add great items to what you already have, carry a great bag, wear some cool jewelry...and relax and enjoy!

DRESSES, DRESSES, DRESSES.
This is an important statement. You'll want to own several - one for every occasion. Our favorites are:

The Solid Knit Jersey Dress...easy care cotton or synthetic knit, so comfy, and so versatile. These little dresses are long on style and take you everywhere. Just add a pair of earrings and you're ready to go!

The Novelty Knit Dresses From M Missoni! From wrap styles and tunics to easy shifts, these dresses come in Missoni's trademark space dye yarns, modern zigzag, and new feather chevron patterns.

THE NEW SHAPE FOR SPRING.
Full and easy, away from the body, hemlines are bubbled, sleeves are poufed, collars are rounded. Remember the 60's? Well the tent and trapeze shapes are coming back...2007 style!

The New Fly-Away Jacket... Shorter to the hip, an A-shape for ease and looking great over bermudas, slim crops, lean jeans. With full 3/4 or elbow sleeves, this is the must-have jacket of the season!

Full Empire Tunic Dresses... Is it a tunic, is it a dress? No matter, wear it over leggings or slim jeans for an optimal spring look. Our favorite one is a cool vest top with crystal buttons over an empire easy skirt with charming metallic petticoat.

DETAIL OF THE SEASON...THE BOW
Adding utter charm and femininity to every item, the bow doesn't say "frilly" or "too girly"...it's well, just charming and just enough. Look for bows on basic shift dresses, on jackets, and closures for cardigans. See what they do to a simple clutch, a patent bag, a pair of flats...you'll be utterly charmed!

THE COOL NEUTRALS
We love brighter accent colors, but the color look of the season is no-color.

The Cool Side of Beige...simple neutralized light shades of putty, stone, oyster, celadon, and softened white, signal a fresh modern approach to how we will want to dress. The beauty of it all is that they're fabulous when mixed together, so the overall color impression is cool and light and go-anywhere-neutral.

Grays...the big color from fall continues into spring in a big way. We mix the whole family of grays with special emphasis on the deep charcoal alternative to black, gray heathers, and pale silver grays. Included in the "graying of spring", are all the silverized metallics...like gunmetal, pewter, and chrome.

ACCENT WITH YELLOW!
Yellow is the color of the future. In the designer collections, it was the number one accent color with black/grey and white collections. Choose yellow for that striking scarf, a cool pair of gloves, the key item hoodie or deep V. And our season would not be complete without you seeing our stunning yellow handbags and totes.

METALLICS...
This is the accent trim that makes an item right for spring 07. We love the pale gold washes on leather, silvery yarns knitted into sweaters and jerseys, golden piping, glittery linen wovens. Metallic is here to stay and to be worn night and day.

DOTS...
Last year's classic polka dot has evolved into a whole new novelty dot story. They're part of the new modern geometric pattern movement and looking very fresh. Cluster dots, woven into a jacquard fabric are a refreshing update to a classic separate gray suit jacket. And, not to be missed is the new modern art dot printed abstractly with geometrics on dreamy cream charmeuse.

PATENT LEATHER...
It started last spring, but has now become the number one fashion material for bags, belts, and shoes. Beyond black, patent is a vehicle for fun color with lots of new finishes to come. Like metallic, patent is also the trim of choice and is especially fun when combined with other leathers and suedes.

JEWELRY...
As clothes styling gets simpler, the accessories get stronger, and we see jewelry still making a bold statement.

Links and Rings...continue in silver or gold, chunky or refined. Novelty links such as hammered and irregular, hand-made, oval, square, elliptical...are what will complete any great spring outfit.

Pendant Necklaces...this is new in the fashion spotlight. Novelty chains hang down with a pendant or cluster of drop-off objects at the base. Our favorite ones are on fine gold link chains and feature a cluster of crystal, polished stone, metal drops, or a fabulous glob of clear crystal and spun gold...irresistible!

With Uli Schneider

They all come from the Black Forest, but only Uli Schneider combines rich fabrics in restrained colors to allow a woman to revel in her inner and outer beauty. The ULI SCHNEIDER collection for spring and summer relies on naturalness to infuse personal style with subtle erotic and individual charisma. Wide new cuts, pleats and godets, pencil skirts and trousers in all lengths. And the all-important dress in many forms: the shirt dress, jumper or evening gown.
